Should be bullet proof with that engine

This is cheaper and has copious curry carrying capacity…

I own an FMX, they are slow, heavy and the tank range is sh1t at about 96 miles (although coming from a storm you are probably used to that).
Forget any sort of supermoto japes you may be imagining.

On the other hand, i love it so much, the low down torque is hilarious around town, the brakes are amazingly good, comfort is not too bad on short trips (100 miles or under, although i've done 330miles in a day without too much discomfort), 50mpg is fairly standard round town, had it go up to 77mpg slipstreaming trucks on the M6.
It will touch 95mph on the clocks given time and jockey like positions. It's reliable (so far) and generally a hoot.

I've owned it from new in 2006. I got a Storm as a second bike and i've not gelled with it as much as the FMX.
The FMX is the only bike i've ever kept longer than 3 years.

They are difficult to start until you learn the secret, turn off the fuel, drain float bown using drain screw (easily reachable with even the shortest screwdriver), open fuel tap, turn over once or twice to suck new fuel in and it fires straight away.

I used to have until last year a Honda XR650L, not the 650R! The L version is old school although they still make it for the US.
It has the same engine as the FMX, you can do a "Daves Mod" on the carb and it really makes it run better than stock although mine was a US bike so Cali strangled.
Brilliant bike for hacking around on and I bought mine in Southern Ireland and rode it back up the West Coast..best couple of days in my useless life.
The FMX should be a good bike for bombing around on/commuting etc as you sit high. Get one

That's a steal, great bike for the money. As for the FMX650, go for it, will be a right laugh and give you a different perspective. Am tempted to dig out a big single just for the thump every lamppost. Loved the SZR, no top end but would outdrive a Gixer on bends round the Cat and Fiddle.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Very under powered as a cbr400rr is faster and had more power and insurance is 1/4 the price :-)

If you want a fun supermoto go for a drz400sm

theyre meant to be a decent bike and don't have the reliability issues of other sm's such as KTM and so on

the fmx650 and xt660x are what I refer to as pretend supermotos
CBR125 - XJ600S DIVERSION - YZF600R THUNDERCAT - VTR1000 FIRESTORM
I still crave a supermoto...
