They arrived and when I saw them so did I.

First I made a template

Image

then set out the position for them and the cut outs

Image

I drilled lots of holes then removed the bit I needed and filed all the edges smooth and the indicator fitted a treat.

Image

then fitted the other side

Image

I think they look the part thankyou Henry :D

I welded caps on the frame with an M6 thread in the center.

Then mounted the spikes my mate Ada made for me

Image

I got the idea for this from Preditor. When he removed his helmet he had those four big wombles teeth

Image

Image

I also welded up the holes in the side of the frame that I wont be using

Image

Image

The top spikes are a little small in diameter so my bud Ada is making me some more slightly bigger.

Thanks for sorting out the vid for me mate and thanks for the kind words.

My mate Ada made me a blanking plate fot the bandit tank today.

Image

and I exposed all the wiring to get a better idea of where I'm going to mount stuff, and what bits of the loom need to be altered.

Image

not anywhere as bad as it looks.

With my wiring diagrame I went through the loom and figured out what was what, then labeled everything up.

Image

I can now position everything like the regulator rectifier, starter solonoid, relays, etc and run the loom where ever it needs to be, then I can cut and shut it.

Image

I also cut into the seat a volt meter

Image

I luv the look of analogue clocks and when the ignition is flicked on the way the needles jump into life.

Do like the frame swap, cause lets face it, the VTRs hides too much of the motor  The rear is mad, not for me, but hell my VTR isnt for most (or any on here  ) Nice to see something different too

Ive got an issue wthe the fuel tap on the bottom of the tank and where to mount it. My Bandit tank hasnt got one, so I brought a dented up storm tank and cut the mount out the bottom of it to weld on the under side of my bandit jobby.

Nup!!!

No where to mount it with enough cleaence and that will alow me to access rge tap.

Time to do a bit of chin scratchin and think outside that box again. or rather this time I thought i would use the box rather than think outside it.

I had a bit of 50mm box section steel under the bench so I got my bit I cut out the firestorm tank and marked round it

Image

next I drilled holes in each end of the ovel

Image

then drilled them out to the size of the template

Image

after that I used my jigsaw with a steel cutting blade to cut out the rest of the waste material.

Image

then I filed the hole out so the insurt was a snug fit

Image

then welded it into place.

next I made ends and welded them into place to make a sealed chamber.

Image

I'm going to braze a tube in the side of the chamber and under the rear end of the tank that will connect a hose from the tank to the small slave fuel chamber with a in line fuel filter in the middle of the hose.

Image

I also have good access to the fuel tap as well

Image

the small chamber will be powder coated along with the frame a a bundle of other stuff at a later date.

Nice engineering work, but I had 2 thoughts [which is 2 more than normal! ]

1) why do you need a fuel tap anyway? if you want to take the tank off you will still have to clamp the pipe from the tank to the new subchamber, I assume it is only there to stop any risk of the float bowls leaking.
I would have just been tempted to run a single pipe from the tank with an inline filter to a T-piece and then feed that to the carbs

2) it looks like the is almost below the height of the float bowl. I think that will still be OK as long as the height of fuel in the tank is above the float bowl, but you might need to check.
