There several ideal bikes tht i would like, i really loved the original fazer or sv650!! I would consider a larger bike like a storm or a trx850!! At the mo insurance is crazy for me and i kinda wanna enjoy getting to grips with riding a quick bike !!

On a side note i think they should bring back the air cooled two stroke!!

Didn`t buy either but passed my test on my CD175 at 12.30pm and was out test riding a KH500 triple and a Z1-R by 13.00. A dealer close to home used to import bikes from Jersey so was a favourite haunt after that most Sunday afternoons  First proper big bike would have been a Triumph T120 with a 750 Morgo conversion, gear change and rear brake on opposite sides from any Jap bikes......that was fun for a while until you got used to it......... 8O

tasum wrote:Suzuki X5 200cc, very buzzy, but quick. really liked it, but they seem very small now, even though I haven't grown much in 25 years
i went raleigh runabout , fizzy , honda cb200.

as the 200 could be thrashed to more than the legal speed limit 85/90 iirc, i,ll call that my first big bike.
tasums point above is quite correct. i saw a cb 200 at a show the other day and it was tiny. the tyres look like they were off a moped !

first legal (lol) bike was a honda SS50 'ped, passed my test in about '82 on a borrowed suzuki B120 with no front brake, then bought an RD350B...

me being me, put a TZ seat unit on, different tank, clip-ons, rear-sets, modified the frame and added monoshock rear suspension, tuned the motor to as near TZ spec as i could get it, un-baffled TZ pipes... used to piss my mates off on their 750's and thou's by going past them at 125 on the by-pass with 2 gears to go.... blew it up regularly, then bought an imacculate Z1300, which i spose was my first 'big' bike. wish i still had that'n....

First big bike.
1984 Kawasaki GPz750 A1 unitrack.

big old oil air cooled lump, good bit of kit, done alsorts to it, big bore kit, ZZR1100 front end, shoe horned a ZZR600 rear wheel etc in the standard swing arm.

then I wrapped it around a Ford maverick 4x4 lol
did have the bike about 6-7 years thou
