Have owned my storm some 6 weeks now.
Thanks to advice and knowledge on this forum it is now fit for use! Far too many of you to thank individually, but you know who you are!
Standard cans (welds had split on both) replaced with de-baffled set (more noise = safety!),
Fuel tank reserve sensor arm was bent, giving false readings; straightened out,
Reg/rec replaced with CB125 finned type (straight swap),
CCT's replaced with manuals, (excellent guide on this forum made it so easy!), Alternator bungs replaced with stainless ones at same time,
Broken plastic choke connector, both replaced with metal ones.
Having sorted the mechanical side of things, thought it was time to do a few cosmetic updates...
Exhaust downpipe was badly corroded; what do you think of the exhaust wrap? Maybe should have gone for the black finish rather than titanium?
Filled radiator and front intake vents with expanded mesh sprayed to match fairing colour (hot-glued to inside of fairing).
Fitted small front indicators and clear led/indicator rear light unit.
Replaced puny sidelight with a hi-intensity 9x led board - much better as a Daytime running light.
Next on the list? Front fork rebuild /rear shock mod; braided brake lines; polish wheels.

The downpipe looked a mess. I tried wirebrushing it and spraying with vht paint; lasted all of a week before they looked as bad again!
Stainless or ceramic coating would be the best answer, but talking mega-bucks.
Trawling FleaBay I found rolls of exhaust wrap at £20 or so. Watched Youtube to see how it was done, hence the result!
Thinking I should have used the black wrap rather than titanium? ...still, it does match the brake calipers!

That looks like a real nice bike Have you got any more pics, I'm interested in the paint scheme/combination.
Get some of the appropriate spray to put over the exhaust wrap to seal it all, otherwise water gets in and rusts things even quicker than without it.
Scott the exhaust wrap serves a few purposes apart from looks, it keeps the heat in the pipes so there is not as much heat around your legs/engine compartment, rear shock etc and helps to burn off the excess vapours in the pipes which supposedly improves performance.

It's a heat resistant silicone type spray I think you need. I will try and find a link on ebay for you.

Marty you don't happen to have any pics of the wrap before you put your lower fairing back on do you?
It's got me thinking, however I don't have any lower fairing so more will be in show if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately not. Have just popped out and taken 2 more to show the best I can.
Used about 4m of a 5m roll to do the front pipe.

There are a variety of arguments for and against the exhaust wrap as a performance aid. It was originally intended to aid scavenging on low tuned vehicles but the effect on modern engines is negligible.
I do think it looks good on the down pipes though.

Been out every day lately; some lovely roads with very few cameras in Kent !
The power delivery of a V Twin is much better and so different to a straight 4.
Definately suits my style of riding, wish I had discovered the Storm years ago!
