Man, sorry to hear that and I sympathize as I have a bar in my leg amongst other problems. I know how it feels! But on the bright side, I'm back out riding again. Time is the healer for body and spirit

lets get this thread back on track, i've spent this morning on the phone to many insurance companys
footman james wouldn't touch my bike with all the changes.
mce and swintons wasn't bad but i ended up going for bikesure.
nows heres the bad bit.
because i was honest about the mods and i haven't got any ncb, plus theres an on going claim, this ain't looking good is it.
but i'm 39 and have a clean license
so here goes fully comp with nearly every extra including european breakdown cover £750
i know its alot, but there were a fair few issues to overcome, but i promised myself after my accident that i would only ever ride with fully comp insurance.
i learn't that lesson the hard way trust me.
I always end up paying extra because I want it insured for business use.
I don't ride it to work that often but sometimes I just feel like it.
And with fuel going the way it is I don't think it'll be long before there's fuel protests blocking up the road; they can't stop you overtaking on a bike, though.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
I have a feeling I know why Footman James wont touch it....
I'm insured through Footman James and my bike has a blade/sp front end plus cans and whatnot. However, and heres the clincher. Footman James recently changed underwriters and now only insure via Royal Sun Alliance. My policy is with Trinity Lane (you could try them directly). I've had my bike around 8 months and I called for a quote to change my bike and they wouldnt touch me on a litre bike at all, despite me being insured on one already.
Rep told me that if I had asked them now, for insurance on a VTR, even stock, that they would not insure me due to me having less than a year on my A licence.
So, whilst not a solution, that could perhaps explain why people were suggesting Footman James and yet you still had no joy. Perhaps you'll get some joy with Trinity Lane.
Shame, I think they have shot themselves in the foot there (no pun intended).
First quote back today
£415 fully comp with £250 excess at home in garage and £500 away from home
Only two years no claims as all my other NCB are tied up.
TP on other peoples bikes, 90 day euro cover and legal cover for 3000 miles
TPF&T was only £321
Not back considering I have no no claims bonus to add to the policy.
My multibike insurance is due in May and as that's only £398 for the VTR, HD Electra Glide and the BMW K1200LT with euro breakdown cover plus my clothes I may ( no pun intended) wait till May.
They "TheBikeInsurer" said the premium would drop a lot when the renewal was due.
All the modes were listed, front end rear end and all the other bits and bobs.
i think living in london is a massive factor in insurance costs. daughters boy friend ( 27 years old , mille) could not even get quoted most of the time when he gave chelsea as his address so he gives his mothers place in rural suffolk. dont know what he pays but its a lot less.
