Spitting carbs?

Post by Steve6088 »

Since getting the head gasket on the rear cylinder replaced, my carbs seem to spit and pause once the throttle is snatched open from idle.

The rpms at idle don't seem to be constant either. Though the bike has always been like this :?

Does this sound like the mixture needs adjusting or the carbs need balancing? I'll have a go at fixing it this weekend, so would be handy to be put in roughly the right direction.

Cheers.

Balancing is GOOD. But, you will find that your idle mixture is a bit weak. See my post on airscrew made easy.

carbs always spit back, but its worth checking the balance, dont worry about the idle mixture, my dyno guy said that he never touches them on storms, as long as they idle leave em alone, you may wish to turn the idle RPM up a little, mine ticks over at 1500rpm
