hello from essex,i want a storm(ithink)

Post by matinik46 »

hello all,
my names matt, im 37 and been a biker my whole life.
Im thinking of getting a vtr1000 firestorm, and i just wanted to ask the people who would know.
ive had all sorts of bikes like bandit12,cbr900,tl1000,rf900 etc(i could go on) but anyway, all bikes have got their little quirks to look out for when buying.
what things should i look out for firestorms?
from lurking on here i know about the cct,and the reg/rec, anything else?
also ive seen a import for sale, are they any diffrent apart from the obvious kmh clocks/headlight, ie less power etc.
thanks in advance for your help.
regards
matt

shouldn't be any different in power unless it is a US model with the pair system, but that's easy to rip out.
get a copy of the manual from the workshop forum link and get to know the bike before you get one - there aren't much differences in euro models afaik, but insurers might be a bit arsy with it being an import.
why don't you take a look in the sales section - there's a few member's bikes up for grabs, probably had the mods done already and you can check the history of the bike....
some bargains to be had imo, a lot of bike for not a lot of wonga
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

the Richard turpin is on the A127 between basildon and rayleigh,i think the bike meet is on a tuesday evening.
I go past it every day on my way to work, theres also a biker cafe opend up just before it,loads of bikes on a sunday morning!
hopefully get a storm soon, ive never been without a bike for so long!(24hrs so far!!)

Welcome aboard Matt

Personally (as I said in a previous post) I'd rather go for a UK model than an import.

Chris.
