nig insurance

Post by ixworth stormer »

hi ,two warnings here ,if you use a race can or even an alternative can let your insurance company know (they will increase your premium).the other warning in my experience do not use nig insurance (owned by rbs )after my accident in march they took 3 weeks to inspect my storm although i knew it was terminal .the engineer reported my exhausts not road legal ,they then declared i had not kept my bike in a road worthy condition, cancelled my policy and would not pay out me or the third party and instructed the other party to sue me for there losses which i have paid them for ,they are unhelpful , do not reply to letters or phone calls and leave you on hold for endless ammounts of time.they have now asked for my insurance documents back which i do not have as it expired in april and i have not renewed it,they are incompitent ,beligerent and have showed a total lack of humility in this matter which i am still fighting if they ever answer my letters

If possible get your bike recovered back home, then bolt back on all the standard bits before the assessor comes a-callin'.

Not easy if you're in Casualty, I know....

If your cans are marked "Not for road use" then they may have a case to reduce your payout, but I'd be taking them to court and the Ombudsman if the cans did not contribute to the accident.

Noisy cans don't make cars drive into you.....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

What I would do is , contact an Independat Motor Engineer . They would charge you a small fee to come and look at the bike and advise you if you have a case. They can be found in the yellow pages.
Find out if the engineer that came to look at your bike was there inhouse engineer employed by them or an independant from an outside source.
Also, any mods from original manuf spec would have to indicate , an overall effect on the possabliltiy of the vehicle being more of a high risk to theft or power, steering and looks.

Example.... Making a bog standard ford escort look like a Ford XRi. This would make the vehicle more interesting to thieves and increse the possable theft of your vehicle.

Also, If they are stating that the cans are not legal, did the bike go through any MOTs with them on, also speak to the supplier about them and get there comments in writing.
Once you have all this, contact your insurance comapny and state that you going to make a small claims court action againt them.
Don,t give up, insurance companies dont like bad news in the press.

Dont waste your time goinng to the ombusman, there totally usless and are paid by insurance companies any way.
