FAO FirestormMike
Mike, I think you said you painted your tail/seat plastic's on your Firetsorm using Halfords rattle can spray paint (as below). Did you need to lacquer the paint once you'd painted it
Cheers,
Chris.

Re: FAO FirestormMike
That was quick
Thanks for the info and paint link Mike
I thought your seat plastics looked pretty good in the pic, so I was wondering if you had lacquered it for future reference IE. if I see a hugger or belly pan for sale and I need to re-paint it I'd know what to do.
Cheers,
Chris.

Use RS paints for a perfect colour match, I would recommend them but they are pricey. http://motorbikepaint.co.uk/

At Rufforth last Saturday caught this guy and his lady:

Touch up kit for Red Storm was £10 - for that you get 3 X 20ml bottles, one of ground coat, one of top coat and one of clear coat (laquer). Oh and a set of instructions.
I thought that was pretty reasonable considering the cost of 1/2 litre of colour matched single coat stuff.
Haven't seen him there before, but at least he has website. Seems to cover the whole spectrum (get it )

Re: FAO FirestormMike
I’ve used these chaps in the past
colour match was pretty good, fast delivery and not a bad price luckily I’ve found a paint suppler locally that’s sh*t hot at matching so now use them as I prefer the 2k system

Re: FAO FirestormMike
Just finished re-spraying a side panel using the Halfords Y124 shining Pearl Yellow.
Colour match is good, (took two full cans though) and I then lacqured with spray can standard stuff.
The finish is different, maybe I should have flatted it between each coat?
It's not exactly dimpled, but you can see that the original is gloss and my effort seems more of a vinyl finish.
Mind you, never bothered to spray anything before, so maybe I should have left it to the experts.
It'll do for now.
Also my first time of trying to repair cracked plastic using an old soldering iron- that seems more successful, but in hindsight I should have used a bit of body filler and smoothed it before spraying the colour on.
Looks alright from a distance, under the cover, in the dark, if you squint.
baldrocks!

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: FAO FirestormMike
Tony, the earlier Yellow is one of the most difficult colours on the Firestorms to match, so if you got a good result that's excellent
To get a good finish (shine) on the lacquer, once you've given it time to harden off, you'll need to buff it up, either with polish, T cut or a cutting compound, or all three. Be very careful though on non flat surfaces not to rub through to the paint,
Chris.

Thanks, Chris, will give it a go and report back for others to view.
