Constand Pin Size

Post by nigelrb »

Hi. Done the necessary searches without luck.

Can someone help with the Constands pin size for the headstock stand for the 2002 VTR SP-2? I have the stand and small pins, but only up to 17mm. Thanks!

If it's like the VTR1000F headstock - I had to use the 13mm one plus a 17mm ½" socket repurposed to fit so II could my front stand as all the pins that came with the stand were too small a diameter.

Ingenious to say the least. I'll have a look at that.

I have a feeling that because the SP-2 had larger forks and beefed up frame, the triple tree will be much different. But thanks, you've provided a quick solution in the absence of Constands answering my email.

I've had a Harris front stand for years with various bikes. But the pin for the Firestorm is huge. So measured used socket to get the size then measured that and got Harris to make one.

As stated, I believe it was 17.5mm.

I found that the front pin wasn't the problem on my SP2, it was the fact that the arm holding the pin fouled on the intake snorkel.
To use it I had to remove front fairing section and unbolt the snorkel.
You risk cracking plastics otherwise.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Don't know about other stands but the Harris one has a couple of different arms that the pin goes into to avoid that problem.

It's not cheap though. But they have an option for SO1/SP2.
