I hope that your cutting out snag is cured, but if it happens again, and you have an alarm/immobiliser, fitted, then it may pay you to check that side of things out. I've had one fail before, in an intermittent manner, I ended up removing the alarm. Problem solved.
Rather a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
