running crap and backfiring

Post by scouse645 »

Hi all, as others may have done iv'e been out and about in the good weather, but it's not running well atm, having a good read and most people say check exhaust seals first, no problem there, then i read about the blanking bolt on the carbs for synchronisation, mine has a short length of pipe on it, i think tony mon must have put it there when he did that job for me, when i pulled at that pipe i noticed the other end of the pipe wasn't blocked off, the question is should it be?

Does it come from the front pot? by the idle adjuster - could be a vacuum take off for easy carb balancing and needs a golf tee or something to plug it. If you've pulled if off then you'll need to get access to put it back on.

yes that's the one, i have found a picture of it that tony put on for someone else, so basically i need to blank it off, thanks for confirming that, wouldn't have thought something so small would cause all that trouble. i didn't pull it off.
