Good new you've isolated the culprit - my old Renault Clio showed the rear fog lamp warning when I braked - it was as simple as removing the rear light clusters, switch cleaner and a rub down and the fault disappeared.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

All sorted.

Had a look at the connector block under the seat, everything looked fine so I reconnected it and went out for a spin. The oil light never came on once. I did around 150 miles with plenty of pootling through vilages and stop starting without a single flicker, hopefuly that's the end of it but if it starts again at least I'll have an idea where to look.

I would just like to say another big thank you to everyone for being so helpful with a special thanks to E.Marquez, a wiring fault hadn't crossed my mind.

Cheers everyone
