Sloppy side-stand

Post by jchesshyre »

I have a fair bit of play in my side-stand pivot (maybe 2 cm?) - not between the stand and the bolt but between the bolt and the frame. Is this acceptable (bearing in mind I have 75k on the bike) and is there anything that can be done about it? I have every intention of seeing this bike past 100k and if this is something that can be somewhat nipped in the bud before it gets urgent then so much the better.

Give it a stern talking to and a first verbal warning...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I have heard of some fitting a shim between the stand and mounting bracket, I'm not sure how successful this has been,

I fitted a thin washer onto the stand of my ST1100 for the same reason, worked like a charm.
