Chain rivet tool

Post by Stevo Kifaru »

Hi all, long time since I've been on here as my VTR is in dire need of repair, & it's a big favour to ask, but does anyone have a chain rivet tool I could borrow/use that they could bring to me? I live in-between Coventry & Rugby & my current bike (an RC36) has shed it's chain & I can't afford to fork out lots of money on a tool I may only ever use once. I can afford to shell out money & hot beverages & biscuits or a pint or two around the rather nice pub in the village though.....

Cant help with the tool, but one option is to get a spring clip link from the bike shop to get the bike moving again, then ride back to the bike shop and get them to fit the rivet style link for you using their tools.

or they can be easily done with 2 hammers and a center punch .... but it helps if you have a Mate to hold the hammer at the back of the chain
