Types of grease I might require

Post by TaxiDriver »

OK folks so this is going to be a full on strip, clean and lube job to get it up to scratch.
Because I've been out of the game for so long can someone point me in the direction of the types of grease
I'm gonna need?.
All I have is a tin of Moly but not too sure where to use even that.
Thanks in advance.

get yourself some good heat resistant grease, handy for linkage bearings near the exhaust and headrace bearing, in general anywhere near the engine.

oh and a tube of coppaslip, great stuff if you ever need to take a bolt out again,in twenty years :D
the older i get,the faster i was

I have three tubs of grease:-

General purpose grease, for stuff that moves.
Copper grease for bolts etc, that don't usuall move but I don't want to sieze in place.
Red rubber grease, for rubber parts. Mainly brake caliper seals.

A decent size tub (500g) of any of these are not expensive and you won't empty the tub of either copper or red grease!

Add silcone grease for electrics - connectors and esp. under the starter motor terminal under the rubber hood.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
