Frame bolt lock nut alternatives

Post by freeridenick »

How have folks solved the lock nut wrench problem for the frame bolts? The problem being the Honda tools are about £100 each.

I could cut down a socket to fit but then couldn't get anything inside to hold the bolt.

There's a few aftermarket variations on eBay from about a tenner to £25

Cut a socket or better piece of tube the right size to fit the nut, weld on a short extension and put a 1/2" square in it and you have the Honda tool..
If you used a socket you have to drill out the center of it as well.

Heck, buy these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-VTR100 ... 1645165287
at £25 and then weld on a short extension and put a square hole in it for your TQ wrench

I think I'll be doing just that. Once I've learnt to weld.
