Cutting out on tickover

Post by bazzashadow »

My friend is having a problem with a VTR.
The fuel filter was split at the bottom so because of the price of a new Honda one I told him to fit 2 in-line filters the same as I have.
Now when he starts it on the sidestand the right filter bubbles and empty’s of fuel and the bike cuts out.
But when he starts it on a center stand or takes it for a ride it runs fine.
Has anyone got any ideas

The sceen in the inline filter could by causing a fluid lock (think of trying to breath through a wet face flannel) = possibly needs priming to allow it to flow.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Replace the suspect filter before you do anything else.

Why on earth is your mate leaving the bike tick over so long on the side stand :?:

Trying a new filter sounds like a good suggestion.

He said he only has it ticking over for a minute or two.
