Hi,
I have been using my Storm for commuting over the past couple of months since I bought it.
This evening on the way home, without any warning, it started making a loud rattling noice and had no power.
I had to nurse it home at 20mph.
I suspect one of the cam chain tensioners has gone, throwing out the timing. The engine will not rev above 2000 and sounds like it is running one one cylinder.
What is the best course of action now?
Do I:
Put another engine in
Replace the head
Add manual chain tensioners.
I have a feeling the valves could be bent too.
The bike has covered 35k miles and is totally standard.
Does any member have a link to a service manual that I can download.
I want to study it before I start any work.
Rgds

Unless it had a stopper mod done, riding it home even slowy has probably done more damage...
Valves could be bent possibly even damaged the piston.
Only a strip down will tell...
Tell us your location & maybe someone local will be able to help.

Re: Storm in trouble
My location: Audenshaw, Manchester. Junction 23
If any member would like to help me out one day to take out the engine it will be appreciated.
I have front and rear paddock stands, trolley jack and most tools required.
What I don't have are the special tools.
Once out, I can work at my leisure, evaluate the problem(s) and decide whether it may be a better option economically, to just replace the whole motor.
Food and drink included.

Re: Storm in trouble
You don't need to take the engine out, get the affected head off and you will see what needs doing.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
