Weird electrical problem.

Post by StormingHonda »

This is not a Storm question but a Varadaro question so close enough.

We have a 2002 bike that was working fine, but it started to completely loose electrics when you moved the bars side to side and now the bike is completely dead, the battery is fine.

any ideas?, it has HISS.

Could have shorted on a dodgy wire in the loom near headstock?

Checked your fuses? a blown one might indicate a problem on a specific circuit.

When you say completely dead; do the instrument cluster lights come on when they are meant to be/
Indicators?
Headlights/tail lights?
Ignition giving a spark?

Checked fuses?

Don't just look at them, check with a multimeter.
Al had one that looked ok but wasn't, on the Embankment one night...
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I agree, a very good possibility you have a short or bad connection connected to the wiring around the headstock. AS the others have said check the fuses,

Chris.

Lead to ignition switch, then.
Try the ignition switch in the aux position and see if anything works.

Also check the main earth.
And battery terminals.....
