Do mccts leak?

Post by uk13iker »

Ok as I was about to set off on the bike I bought at the weekend the guy says oh yes and there’s a slight weep from the mcct only slight they all do it? So is this true I’m thinking no. It’s the rear one not even checked the front one yet.

It's not unusual, but an easy fix. Just wind the bolt out no more than two full turns, then apply silicon sealer to the threads. Then wind the bolt back in to exactly the same place.
Thread lock also works.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Thanks Tony will mark the bolt with tippex then go 1 1/2 turns out to be safe, and see if that solves it thanks.

Leave a smear under the head of the locknut, then, as you tighten it down, it pushes silicon into the threads of the bolt.
