VTR Guru Knowledge Requ

Post by nigelrb »

Hi all.

For my interest and potential purchase, can anyone (MacV2, Sirch?) help with the identity of this livery? Was it a Honda release or Dream Machine (or similar) job? Cheers!

Dream Machine, I think it may have been commissioned by Honda UK though...

As such it's not a factory paint job.

There are a few of them around, don't know how many were done.

The orange suffers from horible sun fade & good luck finding a colour match...

Is it a dealer or private sale ?

Got anymore pics ?

You can see from the orange on the front of the seat hump what I mean about the fading orange & the nose cone looks the same.

Ace, and thanks for instant response.

It does seem 'overdone' with HRC decals. Cheers! :Beer1:

Looks ok fairly low milage, looks like std CCT's so they will need changing ASAP, check the reg/rec if has it's origonal they are prone to fail, ask if the shock linkage has been serviced & if not ask them to check it before you even think of handing over any money ! Also check the tyres thay may have decent tread but if it's been standing about for ages...there will be a 4 digit date code in a oblong on the side wall... 01 to 52 is the week 2nd two digits are the year. Anything over 5 years old think about changing them...

^^^

Thanks for that.

I would be more interested if it were a Honda product; but as a re-paint it is no more special than the over-inflated 50th Anniversary specials. Dealer's not showing much interest in returning my call either!

A bit late probably  but I would agree with Mac,

Chris.

Yes, very late  . Doesn't matter though; I'm too OCD for faded paint.

Anyway, I had emailed the dealer with a tentative query. Got no response and today's enquiry I found the bike is sold.

It's karma, because I am sure there would be better examples come available. Cheers for your input though, Chris.

Buy a cheap one and get it sprayed, if you want that scheme.
Or, even cheaper, buy a Chinese fairing set and get a tank plastic to match.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Apart from it beeing a bit overdone when it comes to decals (as Nigel said), I think the bike looks great
Too bad the nice colours aren't sunproof :cool2

That wouldn't be a concern under my ownership.

They don't see rain, and are never left standing in sun. It's the 'OCD' factor. :D
