I'll keep an eye on the auction and maybe place a bet - if the price doesn't keep going in the wrong direction :eek2

Nigel:
I hope the Remus high mounts will arrive soon. I'm sure they will look great on your very tidy black Storm

Have a nice sunday everyone
Thank you young man, I hope you had a good Sunday as well

No probs. I reckon they'll get to £260. I paid 215 for the Remus's (or is the plural of Remus Remii? ) and that is proof that MacV2's system for £150 WAS a true bargain.

Yeah, £358.00 for those who can't get the link. It's a buyer's market - or so they say!

For those in the know, are these a far superior can? I've seen some in the gallery of members' bikes and they do sit higher and nicer than the Remus and a couple of others I've seen. Not that I'm complaining; more than happy with my set.

More high level MIG talk from me.

I've just managed to scoop an excellent condition set due to my eBay trawling. As many will know these are no longer made and the company is defunct. I could do some fabricating myself, and/or make a cardboard template and get hangars made, but I want to mount them from the frame and not the pillion hangar.

Any parts hoarders able to help out here? (Pics for reference) Mandatory bin shot included :D

You can fab a mounting bracket easily enough, using the rear footrest mounting points.
Mig cans have threaded mounting holes, but once the internal mild steel plate with nuts welded on it rots away you'll have to make a new set from stainless with rivnuts. You have to disassemble the whole can to get them in place, but it's not a big job.

Because they're only 100mm diameter, and thicker than normal carbon, nothing else fits.

But they're worth keeping going, because you can't get new ones, and they're becoming very collectable.
I still have a ratty shortened pair of sleeves from my first set, but the mounting holes are oval.
But a slightly shortened set, to avoid the wheelbarrow effect, assembled with a nice new perforated stainless inner tube with no baffle material are a thing of joy, aurally.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I'll get some pics of the mounting brackets for you when I can be arsed...

In the cave & it takes some digging to get them out...

Expect sometime tomorrow coz I'm buggered if I'm doing it now...

Nigelrb, heres some pics of the Mig Brackets...

The curly thin bit I assume cradles the can but it is very thin tin so dont thing it will really do much.

The biggest issue I can see with making them is the twist as they are obviously not flat...

I do have a set that are mounted on a bike but the bracket is more or less hidden when mounted.

I can do some more pics if required.

I'll also look at the mounted set I have to see haow they actually mount...coz looking at them off the bike I can't work out how they do fit...

Thanks very much for that. I have spent more time looking on Google images and it seems (as you'd likely agree) that there's a few different methods used, from pillion hangar mount to a bespoke bracket attached to the rear end somewhere.
I have found this pic which is obviously from the pillion hangar and includes the spacers.

Don't trouble yourself with more pics. I might devise something or I might even stay with the Remuses.

Cheers again, N

On mine I removed the rear hangers and used the longer bolt with the spacers. Now if you don't have the spacers, and I don't even know where my 3 are, you can either cut another tube, or just double nut out the bolt to the required gap.
(No smart arese comment about why only 3, or why I know this..)
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time
