Helmet Cam Mounts

Post by Mav617 »

So, having had a near miss before Xmas I now always ride with a camera. Little Go-Pro copy mounted on bars, works well but ideally I want to helemt mount it. Anyone recommend a helmet mount - some on Amazon but not sure they'll be up to snuff?
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

No, you're fine, Amazon have several listings for snuff.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Helmet cam! How very uncomfortable! Useful for Pervy gynaecologists I suppose, or very niche porn.

Mav, I bought some fittings from Ebay a while ago for my SJCAM. I was not very impressed with them, they didn't marry-up that well with the existing fittings, meaning the camera was not locked in the required position even though the lock-nut was done up really tight.

You get what you pay for I guess,

Thanks Chris, I got a chin mount kit from Amazon but top-mounted it in the end, don't go fast enough on the Beemer for drag to be a problem!

Then hit hid on Garage roof - lol, time for a second go.

Not a GoPro style one but this is how I mount mine too

I feel it's a decent perspective as you catch the oncoming side of the road more, and those shoulder checks.

Out of interest what make camera is that you have and what is the video quality like :?: I see your's has what looks like a wind shield for the microphone.
The one I have is a GoPro style camera like Mav's, but your's looks like it doesn't stick out as much,

It's a Drift Stealth 2, unsure if they still make them but they're available on Ebay.

The microphone muff is a recent addition, it's got a sh1t mic in a sh1t place, catches all the wind.

The video quality is OK, it's certainly no GoPro, but it's less than half the price!
I'll get a clip up on the tubes later as an example

Here's a quicky on my ride home yesterday, unsure why it's quite so quiet, it wasn't like that in the editing software :D

It seems to be private, were you exspeeding the limit, by any chance?

I still have concerns over riding with people with cameras recording me, I know that isn't the purpose but I'd rather not hand the bill the evidence to convict me.

Thanks for the info  now you say it I can see it's a Drift.
I have the same problem with my GoPro copy mic regarding the audio.

I really appreciate you posting a video, but like Tony I am also unable to view it, even when I logged-into Youtube,

Chris.
