Half hour ride....

Post by tony.mon »

I needed to get something out of the garage, which meant moving the new one.
I fitted some new numberplate fittings and a screen protector while it was accessible, then thought, might as well have a little half hour circuit to keep the battery topped up, so off I went
Ride was uneventful, had some fun, when I got back put my hand on the rear tyre to see if I'd got some heat into it....and spotted the nail head in the rear tyre.

There's always a chance it hasn't gone all the way in, so out with the pliers- hissssss.

Off with the rear wheel, up to the local bike shop, 26 quid for a plug kit or 25 quid for them to plug it.

I thought, let them do it, they can balance it in with the price.
Which they did.
So by the time I got back and refitted it, four hours.

That bloody bike owes me three and a half hours.
I hope it isn't like an Italian girlfriend, OK in short bursts but high maintenance all the rest if the time.

I warned it, I still have the SP2, one of them has to go....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

How unlucky was that. I bet you were right cheesed off with that Tony, I know I would have been.

Looking on the bright side it could have been a lot worse, the tubeless tyre saved you there,

Chris.

Is there a speed rating for plugged tyres?

I am a bit naive as I come from the days of vulcanising patches on inner tubes!

No, they're alright.
I spent a weekend drag racing on a plugged tyre, and it was fine.

I wouldn't have had it plugged on a sidewall, of course, but near the centreline is OK.

Anyway, tyres won't last long on the back of the 1100 Tuono... I'll need a new one before the summer.
