2 into 1 exhaust system on the Firestorm

Post by nachtjaeger13 »

Does anyone have a 2 into 1 exhaust system fitted to their Storm I'm looking at aftermarket systems for mine, but 2 into 1s appear to be a bit thin on the ground.

Many have tried,

Watching this with interest.

I have been thinking about a 2-1 system with a low mount Buell type can.

I have seen it somewhere before but can't find it.

I had one that from memory looked like a home built. Look good but there was a notable performance impact. I think there are reasons why the headers look like they do.... Hundreds of hours of Honda development

I wounder if any aftermarket suppliers ever cracked it

That said
They developed one for the Sp 1 & 2 which worked rather well.
If I remember rightly, the two into one gave better top end but with the sacrifice of a bit of mid range

I have the Arrows titanium full system on my sp2.
Didn't notice it holding it back much, but then I never tried it with a std system on.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

This is the only system that ever worked properly. Still available new at about £1800.

Does anyone here have actual experience with the Yamamoto 2-1 system? I have been eyeing this system for a dozen years and performed numerous Google searches over the years in my quest for dyno sheets or any kind of credible information that it actually works, all to no avail. So, urban legend or proven performer? The stage is your gents...

Yes, Colin Edwards used it on the SP-2 in the 2002 WSB. Of note though, after mid-season break, he returned with the traditional two into two (it might have had a link pipe just above the rear wheel) and then dominated the latter part of that season to defeat Bayliss on the Ducati. Not saying that was all due to the twin system, but Honda obviously felt it worked better in WSB circumstances.

Spot on  That's just how i remember it. Those two boys gave us some fantastic racing.
I used to run a Sato two into two on my SP. They are/Were the R & D section for HRC at the time. They came up with different diameter cores in their racing exhaust to get the best balance and power across the range.
