Thats a real shame, the championship wont be the same without him in it...I wonder when he will hang up his riding boots? he seems to be doing as much commentating on WSB as he does riding at the moment, maybe that will be his next move, not that im complaining or doubting his commitment, his insight adds to the programmes.

He is the man. The fastest ridden stock storm i have ever seen, despite of the crash at the end.

Wish him quick recovery.

Just saw this on the BBC of all places -

Shane Byrne: British Superbike champion 'broke ribs, neck and back' in crash http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/44263591

Retirement must be a consideration after this surely!

How strange you should post that Kev, as I was only thinking about Shakey today and wondering how he was doing. It appears from your link he has been very lucky, long may that continue in his road to recovery,

Just glad to read that he survived such neck and back injuries without being paralysed, hope he makes a good recovery..

Like Kev said, it might be the trigger to hang up the leathers and enjoy family life
