Cleaning Ti cans

Post by Kev L »

Anyone got any recommendations/best practice for cleaning Ti cans? I've got a pair of Akrapovic cans which have a few marks on them and slight fading showing the silhouette of the old decal.
Any pointers gratefully received.

I always found that WD40 done a good job on my Arara's and kept that Ti sheen. Don't go using anything abrasive or you will loose that Ti look and they go all shiny like Stainless.

Helpful as ever Andy, you tw@

Thanks for the WD40 advice Carl. Just spray on and wipe off and don't use any abrasive, I'll give it a go.

Believe it or not Mr Sheene is good for shining titanium up without leaving marks or streaks.
Clean them first with a de greaser, then polish with Mr Sheene, while you're at it do the plastics with Mr Sheene too, you'll be surprised at the results, and it costs a lot less than a lot of bull s**t products out there.

Cleaning Ti cans

Post by lloydie »

Wd40 and a brillow pad .
Work only in one direction i.e. Up&down the width Try a small area on the inner face of the can
This method was brought to my attention on rsv.net regarding the twin akrapovic milli system .
I used this method on my akrapovic and quills .

Theses cans had bad strap marks until I did the above .
