Not much chance of Rossi winning the championship now then
I would have liked to see him win the 10th too,

Chris.

That's fecked his chances this year, min of 6 weeks and even then he will not be fit enough to fight for the podium.

You can imagine a lost of big teams will try and stop their riders riding off road bikes because of the risk of injury, but the flip side is it will be some of the best training to keep their reactions sharp and their body fit..

I'm away to the Aragon MotoGP in 2 weeks time, looks like I'll just need to cheer on Dovi instead!

...or do we think he could be back up and on the bike in a fortnight?

Dr Raffaele Pascarella, who oversaw Rossi's surgery - in which the fractures 'were fixated using a metal pin' - believes the Italian will need 30-40 days before returning to MotoGP action.

Rossi was absent from MotoGP for 42 days while recovering from the similar leg injury and surgery in 2010: He finished fourth on his MotoGP comeback at Sachsenring, returned to the podium next time at Laguna Seca and won again four months after the accident, at Sepang.

Practice for this year's Japanese Grand Prix starts 43 days from Rossi's enduro accident. If a Motegi return is possible, the #46 would only miss Misano and Aragon.

Ah nice one - We're in a villa about 90mins east from the track, near Ulldecona. Will keep an eye open for butt!

Are you going along yourself?

Any idea what time I should aim to be at the track to get a parking place?
