Clutch slave leak

Post by Pem Brooke »

Got a very slight weep on the first gasket of the clutch slave. Haven't pulled it apart yet...from what I can see on the service manual, the gasket (first one in, from the out side - left slide - of the slave) just needs replacing...
My logic is that if the piston seal was leaking, the leak would be from the drive sprocket side of the slave.
I'm sure lots of guys have pulled apart the slave previously...would I just need the gasket, or the whole repair kit?
Thoughts?
Twist it 'til it breaks, then back off half a turn.... :eh:

Clutch slave leak

If it's leaking it will be the piston seals .
As for The paper gasket , I don't even know why they fit it as it has no use .
The other little rubber seal is to stop crap getting on the piston .
So with all that in mind , if you have a leak it the piston seals that have gone .

Take it off and clean it out of gunk & grit that somehow gets into the clutch slave - Replace piston seal and check bore for scratches from aforementioned grit (lightly sand it down with wet+dry), rebuild with new gasket and bleed.

Or just transplant one in from a low milage Honda from around that period (Blackbird, VFR, CBR). About £15-£20 from fleabay.

I definitely have one, PM'd to avoid selling in a non-items-for-sale section.

Probably cheaper than a seal kit.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Isn't the one I'm selling the one I borrowed off you a while back, Mac?

Which reminds me- I still have your CDI and ECU units- never needed them after all- turns out that gas welding doesn't bugger the electrics if the battery isn't disconnected, after all....

I now have the original ones from the broken yellow Storm as well.

Thread hijack, apologies, nothing to do with leaking slaves, of any kind.
