Vfr tank

Post by TheBozBoz »

I've read a post on the superhawk forum of how to get a vfr800 tank to fit the storm. Just wondering if anyone here has done it or possibly done it differently to relining the seat etc(I'll try to link the post I'm referring too) also real world experience of riding with vfr tank, is it comfortable does it make the bike look bulky etc??

An alternative, if rather pricey, way to better capacity -

I've msged the people who fabricated tgat tank, cheers for the project link! I'm not sure if they look ugly or not as I've not found decent pictures of the conversion. The only one I think I've found that looks like deffinatly a vfr is this:

That ones an adapted VTR tank. The VFR tank wouldn’t look bad if the cavern between the seat front and tank had some kind of trim piece fitted.

I bought a vfr800 tank, and that gap looks completely gash, also the standard VTR bars hit the tank, which is an MOT fail.
Ive now cut the bottom off the VFR tank and it fits over the VTR tank quite well, so Im going to cut the tank and weld the VFR top onto the VTR bottom, leaving about 3 inches of VTR at the bottom, it will need recesses for the bars as it will still hit on full lock, but it just looks like a higher VTR tank.

Ive been thinking about this a bit more, so today I cut a VFR tank along the bottom and bent it down so theres no need for a big bit of spacer but havent tried the seat on yet.
