955i wanted by traitor

Post by haynesjones66 »

i'm looking for a cheapish triumph sprint 955i as my knackered joints cant deal with a storm anymore. it's the comfiest bike to fit my gangly frame

you really don't, do you ??.. Find something better, the Triumphs are showing their age now and not ageing as well as a Jap bike.
Sized rear suspension with a blind bolt that will give you grief and expense, plastic tank growing due to ethanol making them nearly impossible to refit (or even impossible), failing electric systems, powder coat coming off the engines in big lumps, wheels too.

Big comfy sport tourer options, Yam XJ900 Diversion, still some low mile bikes out there, not the most exciting bike but very reliable
1200 or 1250 Bandit not the best build quality but better than the Triumph long term.
Yamaha FZ1 Fazer, good reliable engines, well proven bike, this i reckon is best choice.

There's loads more options but if you do go with a Sprint I hope you get a well sorted one and don't have too many troubles but they'll all come in the end.

i was looking at the sprint as CRK have a new kit for them. i can adapt peg and bar height to suit. also, i cant ride upright bikes anymore as my hip joint is worn at a certain point. i already have a conventional rear end for peanuts as i'm not keen on the sssa set up

What about VFR800 ? £1500-1800 would get a really nice gen5 (1998-2001) lots of bar risers and peg lowering kits.

bit too complex for a weekend toy. i'm after a stripped down cafe with plenty of go, but also with a bit of character so not a jap 4! the vtr is good but looks wrong with the fairing removed in my opinion. if it wasnt for those rads...

Budget for a pair of these > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Triumph- ... 3570910010 (OEM made out of nylon plastic like the VTR choke fitting that goes brittle with age)

And getting a new Torx toolkit or replacing all the nut & bolt fasteners that Triumph oddly chose to use.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

What about a CBF1000 not a sports bike but Honda build and reliability.
People on hear have had them and raved how comfy and smooth they are.
Re comfort on a VTR. I have done CNC topyoke and ultral ow bars. Suits me, no fairing mods, just lockstops
