1998 Black VTR for sale

Post by firestorm996 »

Hi all

Picking up my 1200GS next week so my beloved Firestorm has to go. Thought I would list it here before she goes on eBay. Been a cracking bike, has passed every MOT with no issues since I've owned it and been across Europe with no issues. Mainly used for commuting and the odd Euro trip. :)

1998 Honda VTR1000F in black
33k
MOT until June 2017

Spec:
- Manual APE cam chain tensioners - set 3 years ago and not needed adjusting since - no CCT worries
- CNC top yoke flat bar conversion with renthals
- Blueflame dual-exit carbon exhausts with removeable baffles
- Dynojetted
- Braided front brake and clutch hoses
- Moko frame crash bobbins
- MRA tinted screen
- Polished cases and swingarm - I'm not a tart so the polishing could do with a going over
- Mesh seat cover thingy (cooler in summer)
- Pazzo style adjustable levers
- Power output to side of the clocks to run a satnav
- Shod with Pilot Road 3's which have some life left in them

I've owned this bike for over 3 years, my third Firestorm, and in that time it's been 100% reliable. The only issue I have had whatsoever has been a common problem - corrosion of the front starter motor connection under the rubber boot which causes lazy starting. Easily fixed. Other than that it's had oil & coolant changes, brake pads when needed etc. Chain and sprockets seem fine, the chain is nowhere near the 'replace' marker yet. Condition is pretty typical for the year, the paint on front of fork legs and the wheels is not 100%, and some swirlies on the tank from using a tank bag.

Gets an easy 120 miles to reserve when commuting, and that figure increases when touring to 130-ish. Runs and rides great, with a lovely V-twin exhaust note :)

I am located in Leyland, Lancashire. Looking for £1150 as-is or £1300 with the Givi top box and monokey rack. Bargain price for an underrated 150mph V-twin that goes and sounds great. :)

Mine used to look as good as that. With e the revolution sticker on the frame I'm wondering whether the forks have been Rogered too.

You're the second person to make that comment Carl :)

They haven't been Rogered though. The stickers are just there because they add 4bhp.....each.... :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin

The VTR just sold. I'll be sorry to see the old girl go :(

The Givi rack and top box are still for sale and I'll list them separately.

His arm is still paralysed, but they are optimistic an operation can restore some of the nerve connections. There was a fundraiser a few weeks ago for him which is up to £2190 so far, all to help towards medical expenses and living costs because he can't work/ride with his arm paralysed like this.

The link is https://www.gofundme.com/2q8avdw in case anyone is interested. I didn't want to spam it all over the place.

As I'm currently in recovery mode myself it shows what a different world we live in...I'll be signed off for as long as it takes on full pay & will still get me hoildays back...& of course I have the NHS to fall back on...(for now that is...)

I have made a donation to the fund...
