From the looks of it it's in very good shape. MOT history at 1700 miles there waa an issue with steering lock clearance. I'm sure there are loads of reasons but maybe it was hit? Probably unlikely

Nonetheless if I was still in England I'd be calling tomorrow with an offer on that one.

cheap engine on ebay.
nothing to do with me. but the price is cheap, the engine looks clean. and there's plenty on it to make it worthwhile.

I thought the same when I saw the advert on Ebay, not a lot of money, but it has had it's engine numbers removed :problem:

There's only one reason for that, and it ain't weight saving.

Don't give thieves any of your money- and I include fences selling stolen stuff, too.
There are a couple of other engines listed at present for only a few pounds more.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

a message from the seller of said engine...…..

New message from: gem.75 (693)
Bike came to me from previous owner he said engine was a replacement from a breakers they remove engine number from cat b bikes cheers J

make of it what you will, not sure about the legal aspect of putting it in a road bike, and or if it's from a stolen bike. I did buy a cat b bike many years ago, and that still had an engine number, so it sounds like waffle to me.

There is no requirement to remove engine numbers from a cat b, only the the "body shell" must be crushed.
I assume that would be the frame on a bike.
Any other parts may be sold.

Cat a are not allowed to have any part sold.

So it's either an engine from a cat a sold illegally or a stolen one.
The seller should have checked, as he or she would run the risk of the bike that engine was used in could have been impounded in a check by police, and their insurance company would doubtless try to wriggle out of a claim.

Suggest you report it to eBay. Edit: I have reported it.

A bike of mine was stolen once, the bits were sold on and people buying the parts were just as guilty as the thief, if they either knew or could have known had they checked that the parts were from a stolen vehicle.
