Foot rest hanger

Post by No1sun »

I was wondering where to get my hands on the foot brake side footrest hanger. Noticed a small crack forming. Was assuming that the material is cast aluminium? Has any one successfully weld repaired? I can arrest the crack with a small drill and that may stop it spreading. Just looking at my options as can't find one on eBay, they are all the gear side hangers for some reason.
Cheers
Dave
Ps David Silver has them at £67 but being a Fifer I was trying to save some cash..... And I like fixing things Lol

Yes you can weld it, then polish the outer surface- no one will ever know.
However I'd suggest clamping it at the mounting points to prevent twisting due to heat.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Or just buy the spare one I have for £25 posted; that's another option.

Usually cracks because of a tumble - check it's not bent and the exhaust hanger nut isn't interferring with the swing arm.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Mine was the same when I brought it, it was held together with two bolts and a bit of plate
