Could any one tell me how much movement is allowable in the Cush drive before they need replacing please

If you suspect it needs replacing it probably means they do - as a bodge to get the last bit of cushioning in the drive system you can shim the rubbers with thin plastic from an ice cream tub (© Benny hedges) - coconut works best...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

A common bodge I learnt from the XT forums is to use an old inner tube, cut it up and pad out the cush drive rubbers.
