Due to an extreme rush of blood to the head (bought another bike!) I've got a complete set up for the upgrade i.e. CBR/SP1 front calipers, new SP1 pads and ZX10 radial master cyclinder, all now for sale in the for sale section funnily enough. Need to spend more time finishing my XS650 project

DIidn`t read the whole topic, but let me share my experience.
I got the bike with gsxr750 srad front end and 6 pot tokico calipers, but the OEM MC.
I put 19mm radila MC from cbr, braided lines and Ferodo SinterGrip pads.
Last saturday i did my first trqack day with the vtr and it surprised my with the stopping power the brakes had. I could stop later than newer bikes like K4, k6 and 600RR :D

However, at the third session i thing the cct failed and i had to put the bike on the trailer back home :sad2
But the brakes combo i had works really well.

Make sure you service them 6 pot often
As they are prone to seizing .

Yep, when i changed the pads i noticed that 4 of the 6 pot on every caliper were almost completely seized. But now they are all ok.

I've fitted jonacol's ZX10 master cylinder but don't see why anything would need to be cut?

lines are fine but fit new washers.
It will work with standard Master Cyl, but it is better with the matching master cyl off the 600 with a bigger piston diam to move a bit more fluid to ensure the lever movement is more normal.

one of the tables early in the thread shows the calculations and opinions of what it will be like with std

I can confirm that the VTR master cylinder can't quite handle the SP1 calipers; the lever comes pretty much back to the bar. I thought I'd try my luck to save a few quid, but all I've done is waste a couple of hours bleeding the buggers! SP1 master cylinder on the way.

SP1/2 master cylinder will transform it. you'll be pleased with the results this time

I've just fitted CBR600 calipers to my 2005 storm.

Already had braided lines and used original m/cyl with 5.1 brake fluid.
Bled very carefully and the difference is scary good.
All up cost me $80- Oz and I would have to rate this the best mod after my lightened flywheel.

Bit of an update:

I fitted SP1 calipers and master cylinder a few months back, along with EBC HH pads and Goodridge braided lines. On the road they've been good, and felt like a reasonable improvement over the originals. However I had the bike on track for the first time yesterday (at Cadwell), and they were phenomenal. Tons of power, no fade, and gave me huge confidence under braking. Well worth the upgrade!
