I am now hoping my setup is good to go but won't know for a while.
2012 Blade radial MC
Tokico six pot calipers
Braided lines
Standard discs.
And some pretty Ant Lion levers
If you don't try you never know if you can do it.

If it wasn't you I'd say "are you sure there isn't still some air in the system if the lever feels spongy", but seeing as it is you you're probably sure there isn't.

According to P/B magazine test in Al's thread on brake mods, a 19mm M/C will feel firmer, but won't stop you so quick:-

Seems the VFR standard master cylinder is 1/2" my other VFR has 5/8th so I assumed this one was the same. anyway that explains the long travel and spongy feel. I've now got a 5/8th Master cylinder from a CBR so when I fit it I'm looking forward to the improved lever.

Ah I see, that could make a difference. Lets hope the new correct master cylinder does the trick,

seems to be a comment ailment, that is, confusing a firm lever with more powerful brakes (when in fact the opposite is true)

In this case it turned out to be too small a master cylinder making the come back too far, the correct one is now fitted (5/8th) and the lever is good. although the SP1 uses the same calipers with a 19mm master cylinder, Which should give an even firmer lever but less feel.

Just brought cbr954 master cylinder i've got 954 calipers and I've got firestorm master cylinder and calipers. 954 mastercylinder to 954 calipers, or 954 master cylinder to firestorm calipers which is best

Given the choice which is the better setup:

A) CBR600rr Calipers with GSXR750 M/C

B) CB600F4i Calipers and M/C

Both similar price $150AUD

Cheers

are the RR calipers radial fitment? - if yes they wont fit on your bike, if no they wlll be the same as F4i as for the master cyl.i don't know what year or diameter it is so cant say if it will match the calipers.

so based on lack of data, the matched pair of F4i parts are the safe bet

what year GSX-R, as they had different masters depending on the year

back to the 600RR calipers, they are same basic casting as the F4i, but the RR have 32/30 mm pistons versus the 34/32 used in the F4i...

The CBR RR calipers should be the same size as 954 calipers, so are definitely my preference for brake feel over the 600F4i set.

I assume the GSX-R master is a separate reservoir style so would match the VTR appearance more closely, whereas the 600F4i uses an integrated master cylinder/reservoir.

GSX-R M/C is from a 2001 model. Only issue is the Calipers both need new seals though them. A quick search reveals these are around $90 AUD from the UK. An added extra i didnt quite need.

Not sure what the dimensions are on that master but a quick eBay search led to me to a pic which seemed to have "3/4" cast into its underside, which would indicate a 3/4 inch piston diameter (19mm),which is quite big. FWIW, this is the same master used on the SP1 and 929 Blade (which both had 34/32 Nissin calipers). Unsurprisingly, Honda changed the set-up on the SP-2 and 929.

The F4i set-up is totally opposite, with a 16mm master piston and the big caliper pistons (as noted earlier, 34/32), a combo which will deliver a very soft lever, LOTS of braking power, at the cost of slightly more lever travel.

The choice is yours, but I would opt F4i.... (though I like a soft lever with lots of feedback)
