subframe fitted... all very nice, shiny and very light..

then this happened.... off my old bike i swapped for my storm 5 years ago.. ZX7r forks with full ktech internals, yokes, 10r radial brakes and adaptors, radial master, lines, rear wheel,320mm discs, wavey rear, new sprocket and he fired a few good rear shocks. 10r and blade..... to good not to take as it was silly money, proper silly..

now what bloody front end does the blue one get?..try to stay close to original or just rip the butt outa it :whatever :eek2 :eek2

If it was me...

I'd leave the blue one alone. At the moment it looks & is the real deal from a bygone era. To me, modifying it is like vandalising it. Kawasaki parts on a genuine Honda racer :eek2

The yellow one seems to be your main ride to be used over the winter period. It will be missed if you take it off the road to modify it & will force your hand to take the blue one out on slippery salty roads when asked to go for a spin.

My answer is..

You need another

Buy back the other modified frame you had & start again with a street fightered bitsa project.

You know you want to Fab

This is the reason old properties get grade 2 listed

Your obviously not happy Fab, sell it before you wreck it :o

Then make a better  Kawasaki Zx7 / Vtr hybrid machine

Like me making a better Varadero/Vtr/Cbr hybrid death trap

Go back a year or two.. imagine your talking to someone down the pub & you get on to the subject of..........

(mate says) I heard some local guy has a Genuine Spondon VTR 1000 in his shed. It's a cracker, this fella's brought it back from the grave, he really is a fanatic & knows his stuff. Really good job too, It looks & sounds the dogs.

(Slurp of beer & a long pause.......)

(mate says) In fact it's so great he's fitting a Kawasaki Zx7r front end on it.

(instant spill the beer response)

(Fabio) WoW, that's exactly what I'd do if I had a Genuine Spondon Vtr 1000, I've always thought they needed a Kawasaki front end & am very surprised Spondon didn't do it.

Or would you of replied differently Fab

It would be a shame to over tinker with the Spondon Fabio.

You've done a really good job in bringing back a little piece of Vtr biking history. That's what it is Fab, a piece of history. Not a tragic mid life crisis tracker jalopy money pit build that I'm doing

Talking projects though, I've always liked Harris Magnums.

Originally I was thinking of having a removable rear subframe on the Tracker build & it would enable me to change things around later on, when I get bored, like your doing.

If this tracker effort ever gets sorted, next I would love to make a Vtr based Harris lookalike. The fairings do come up on eBay sometimes. I used to have a Gsxr1100j, last of the slabside bikes (3 spoke (160 wide woohoo) wheels) & love the style.

But it's a pipe dream at the moment.

Anyway, strap in, tonight's going to be wild I think. Hurricane thingamajig's on it's way, it's blowing a gale here already

Harris was bought out by Royal Enfield recently, wasn't it?
I have a few of their parts on my sp2, rearsets are lovely.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
