longtime overdue makeover

Post by gaz67 »

as in my intro i've had my storm since 98 and has never been apart or seen a dealer spanner after its first service, regular oil/filter changes and general maintenance has kept this bike on the road relatively problem free ( 1xregulator,couple of batterys and chains ). so i decided to do the changes to the bike that have bugged me while i give the bike a good going over , i have always not liked the silver frame/swinger /hangers or basically anything silver :D . so a total strip down has taken place

found a couple of things that explain a running problem i had, notice the 'o' ring on the left carb has been nipped , this must have been from the factory , and the choke had got a bit furred up

a few things i have already had coated

built a engine stand so i can work on it easier strip the bits off i'm doing black

Good work Gaz  I like the way you have all the bits you've removed nicely stacked away on shelving
I look forward to seeing your progress,

Nice bananas

Hope to see more pics of the rebuild refurbishment as it happens.

Looking good

Just about to build an engine mount myself

Will yours hold the engine solid enough to run the engine?

got a couple of fizzys, one i modified and a standard one

and a modified x7

Love all the little smokers, looking at getting a nice expansion pipe for my old kh125 and making it a 17yr old boy racer replica.

The pop Kat looks like it was stored at sea

i had a practically new micron for a kh125 a few year back and did a deal on a modified barrel for my red fizzy :?
the katana was kept outside for 15yrs with no cover  and the tank was a bit beyond saving

Image

managed to source a half decent replacement

Image

hoping to turn it into something like this

Katana was the bike to have back in the day. Hopefully yours won't have the dent in the tank!
