Just bought my first Firestorm

Post by Pendingfirestorm »

Evening all,

This morning I bought my first Firestorm, a 2000 reg.

Very excited to get out on her but it needs new clutch (or parts of a new clutch) and she sputters under hard acceleration when in gear.
I know these things prior to buying her but only paid £700 so figured I couldn't go too far wrong!

I am in west yorkshire so if anyone knows of a good garage that wont rip me off where i could take it to get the clutch and carbs sorted it would be greatly appreciated.

Paint is a bit flaky too and I may opt for a respray at some point.

Cheers!!

Welcome aboard

I'm afraid I can't offer you any advice on a garage that won't rip you off, as West Yorkshire is not local to me,

Chris.

Get the clutch sorted first.
What's the symptoms?
Slipping under full throttle or not releasing enough and dragging?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

It's probably just in n need of a new set of friction plates, bleeding these afterwards is a pain, just keep going and in about 20 minutes it starts to feel right.

slipping could also be the springs going soft, fit new ones as a matter of course
