Hi. New VTR owner from the Netherlands.
Greetjngs everybody from the Netherlands! [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE]
My name is Gilbert, live in a small town called Oudenbosch (south west part in holland, near the Belgium border) and since end-2014 the proud owner of a Matt black 2003 Firestorm with approx 24.000 km on it.
It's my first bike, and as I reasoned; if you want to do it wright, do it wright the first time! [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
Bike is near to standard when I bought it. Except the shark slipons.
After riding the first 1000 km before the winter settled in holland it is time for the priority upgrades!
At the time of this posting the bike is in its winter sleep and undergoing its upgrades, being:
-manual cct (krieger) and valve clearance check off course
-mosfet R/R (FH020AA set) new
-oil change
-tail light led change (done)
-indicator relay change (done)
Love the forum you guys.
It has helped me a lot already, a lot of info absorbed already!

Hi. New VTR owner from the Netherlands.
The "mods"
-Crash pads
Minor detail was that during installation. The thread was gone on one of the engine mounts.
(You know that scraping feeling in the first part when you turn the bolt.... And think..... "Damn, please no....."
-turn signal blinker relay:
Damn, missing the photo
To easy, plug and play..
- manual cct:
Off course the plug on the alternator was not giving, it won round 1..
Next round, it's the bin... Haha
As his replacement is already ordered (and his replacement also!!) haha
Still must get the faring off.
Carbs already moved aside.
Think I'll mount some plugs and tubes for a carb sync job. Now the carbs are off I have access to them...
Didn't get to the rest yet, as it was time to get moving again at work at sea..

Re: Hi. New VTR owner from the Netherlands.
That will be two matte Black ones on the forum now. Very nice bike you have there and one of the better colours. You will have to be careful with you choice of wax when giving her a clean. You can get wax that's made specifically for Matte paintwork otherwise you will end up putting a shine on her.
You may want to consider removing the PAIR system while you have things apart too. It's only there for emissions and makes it a real pain removing things.

Welcome to the fold

Tnks Carl.
I'll give it a read tru..
Only to bad the previous owner didn't get your message about the wax, because he gave the tank a nice shine...... Grrrr
I might fix that at a later time..

Re: Hi. New VTR owner from the Netherlands.
Simple fix...get some Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) which removes any previous coatings and the oils in the wax that's left on your paintwork or a more specialist product like the following:
http://www.bilthamber.com/wax-and-polis ... nser-fluid
The hard part is finding a protective coating ie wax designed for Matte paintwork. It's generally a little more expensive than the usual off the shelf stuff. There's loads of products advertised that are for Matte but in reality they do put some shine on, so it will take a bit of research to find the right product at the right price. The other option is not to use a wax but one of the more modern day nano coatings. Stay away from anything labelled up as a polish.
