Coucil update...

Muggins is the only one of four opratives in today...

One on self isolation. One on Hols till Thurs. One got sent home yesterday until further notice as he's had cancer...

Meanwhile all managers are now on a rota & only in 3 days a week... So it's OK for me to carry on going in peoples houses & risk getting infected...

Have been told to go full bio hazard with wearing overalls, gloves & a mask. ( the ones we use for spraying )

Still on the bright side I was talking to one of the old bids on a mouse job & mentioed the silly state of shops being stripped bare...

well now things have gone crazy!

even being told that the police have stopped some of our work suppliers to challenge them if their trip and was essential. fortunately they had been given a letter to justify, but if they hadn't, then come Thursday they would be in line for a fine!

so I may have to dress up in a nurses uniform next time I want to go for a blast on the Storm

I'm pretty much ignoring Facebook right now. It's always been trite, crass sh1t but now it's full of flowers telling other people they are flowers for doing something they don't think is right. Doesn't matter which right they think Iis right. Probably the best thing to come out of this is less media and more chatting. Spoken to three neighbours this week so far and I feel better for it. Sounds so wombles obvious.

Yup, I spotted that sh1t throwing tw@tfest on Facebook page and wondered if they also had more bog roll than they needed...

The thing That made me change my view on the severity of what we are facing is the thought that my wife is very likely to get called into frontline nursing support (nurse with no young kids, no dependent elderly parents and specialising in respatory illness), and I know she will commit every ounce of effort into caring for the sick. But I am frightened about the mental and emotional scars she will have if our hospitals Become overwhelmed by the levels of ill people that we have seen in Italy and Spain. The long hours with no backup, the stress, the lack of facilities and PPE, and the knowledge that they are having to decide who to help and who might die..... She is tough, but I don't know if she is that tough!

And I am sure there are others on here who have nurses or doctors in the family and must be thinking the same. So when I see some of the selfish tw@ts out there who make the work of the selfless so much harder, I feel a deep sense of shame for the world we have made for ourself..... Is it too late for Darwins theory?

One persons Rat in their kitchen is a bit different to someone freaking out cos they have seen a bug which turns out to be a silverfish...

They are both serious pest infestations to them...

Although I'd rather have silver fish than a late 70's Brummi Proto Reggae infesting me...

This is undoubtedly a very serious situation but I don't think the mortality rate is the most serious thing, hard as that sounds. The most serious part is how close to utter collapse we are. I did some fag packet maths this morning, while not sleeping again, and this is where I got to:

• Population of the UK circ 60million

• 1% of that is 600,000

• Current confirmed cases 6,600 of 64,000 tested

• Let's be generous and say this is 5% of actual cases given such a variety of symptoms and folk not bothering to ring 111. I'm assuming people being told by 111 that they have it and to stay at home unless they can't breath are being counted.

• That makes 132,000 cases. If it's 1% that's 660,000 cases.

• Somewhere between 0.25% and 1% of the population has got it and therefore building up immunity.

• What was the herd immunity level? 80%?

• So if the NHS can't cope with 0.25% of the population on top of its normal load and we need to get 80 to 360 times more people infected before immunity is at the accepted level then we're in lockdown for a very, very long time. And that's assuming it doesn't mutate like Flu does.

From what I've read a vaccine is 18 months to two years away and then they won't have enough to vaccinate everyone. The world is watching China right now and any wiff of a rise in cases will have everyone confined to their homes. How long will the population stand that for? If I can't even run for an hour a day why the wombles would I want to work? Better being out in the garden growing food for when it all collapses.

Expect 6 weeks – 3+ months of lockdown - (look how long they've got extremely vulnerable folk in isolation) before they even think about gradually easing off measures.

Coucil update...

No one can communicate.

I was told yesterday to stay at home.

Today I get a call from the office bods who do the planning... ''Are you in ?'' No I was told to stay home. ''By who ?'' Via an E-mail from my manager. Emergency call outs only & we will be on a rota TBA. '' Oh we were expecting one pest controller to be in today...'' No Ones told me that, you best talk to my manager about it.

Unless told other wise I'm staing at home...
