Some time later...

November 14th 2018

The bone cutter has signed me off as fit to return to work amended duties...

I will be phoning in tomorrow to give them the good news...& to get the ball rolling on sorting out the back to work appointment with the Ocupational health Doctor...

I have to see them first & then wait until their report gets sent in
...Could be another 3 weeks yet before I have to set me alarm...

 sort of...

Finaly got a letter today with an appointment date on...

So I'll go & see them, we discus the injury, recovery & how I feel it may affect me in day to day work...

Then they write a report & send me a copy for approval & then send on to me Guv... Takes a week or so for that. Then The Guv will call me to come in & we disscuss the report & set up a back to work plan...

The date I hear you ask...24th of January ...FFS 6weeks time + the week re the report & then a few days to sort out the appointment...

Still it means I don't have to start setting me alarm yet for a bit...

So looking forward to the early cold starts ect...

So I forgot to post up that a couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from the new pest manager, the previouse one retired in august, any hoo he says '' how are you getting along & do you know you sick note has run out''

Yes fine still a bit sore, spoke to docs today as couldnt get an appointment...(shhhh dont say anything but on the day the note ran out I was off out having an interveiw...) but I'm booked up for Friday moren & will send it in ASAP... '' Ok & by the way I'm trying to get the date of the oc health appointment brought forward & you should get the new date in the post...''

19th of Dec...

I get an email telling me that the new appointment is on 11th Jan @ 08.45 up near Liverpool Street station...

So I checked ouy the train times & fares...46 bloody quid to get from Strood to LS ! & the small mater of getting to Strood...Buses dont start running untill 07.00 so thats out...Cab will be in the region of 30 -40 quid...

I could ride to Strood but then have to wear & carry bike gear on the train in the rush hour...

I could ride to central London on me bike in rush hour try to find somewhere to park & pay the new ULEZ fee...

Or tell them that no I wont be attendening on that date & can you go back to the one on the 24th... This is the option I chose & sent back an email saying so & why...

Today I get an email from the manager

'' Hi Michael.

Unfortunately the appointment for the 24th is no longer available.

Could you confirm your attendance for the new appointment on 14/2/19 as detailed below.''

So I'm back at a place in Woolwich & another 3 weeks on from the first date given...

I even changed the batteries in me alarm clock & now I wont need it for another 6 weeks...

Honestly you couldn't make this up...

Good luck with the interview and application, if it keeps on the way it's going you'll retire before you restart.

Update to the last update of an update...

So went up to Greenwich today for the Ocupational Health Doc's appointment...

Doc comes up to meet me,'' hello have we meet before ?'' Yes I beleive we have, you showed me some pics of Mick Grant when you meet him... '' Oh yes''

So I explaind what has been going on yes it's a new injury from me last visit... I showed him the pic's of the X-rays I have & he asked to see the range of movement I have & then a simple strengh test, make a fist & push against his fist...Major fail... so he asks me to take me top off, T-shirt & base layer... '' Oh back in my day we used to wear ladies tights to keep warm in the winter...'' Er yes...

So he takes one look & says ''I'm supprised they signed you off you've got major muscle wastage around the shoulder & upper arm...''

So the upshot is... I wont be going back to work just yet, he's recommending the council arrange for some hands on physio unlike the pass out an exercise sheet you get with the NHS...

He had a major rant about the state of the NHS when it comes to this sort of thing, cost 1000's for the op & care then they fob you off with little or no aftercare...

Last thing I said was are you going to recommend a back to work plan... '' Oh no. I'll recommend the phisio gets sorted & we'll do a follow up in 2 months time...

So his report gets sent to the boss then they contact me & we go from there...

P.S. No contact from work today either a reminder & good luck or a txt/call/ e-mail asking how I got on...

Ever thought about going self-employed? You wouldn't have all this aggro with sick notes.....

I'm begining to think you may be right Tony...Still havent heard anything from them...Not even a call to tell me that my sick note has run out...New one in the post yesterday...Not fit for work (was I ever ?) 2 months...

So that takes me till the end of April... Only two more months & it'll be a year FFS !
So still not having heard anything from work... Last week I decided to phone in & chase things up...I need to know where I stand after all...

So Thurs 7th March I call in & after being shunted around I get the Pest Control Manager* on the phone...'Hello It's Mac, whats going on I havent heard from you & the Ocupational health Docs appiontment was 3 weeks ago , I got my copy of the report, have you had yours yet ?'

'' Yes we have seen it & we are having a meeting with HR on Tuesday (12th) & you'll get a letter in the post with a date to come in & see us...''

'OK...but you cant pick the phone up to call me no ?'

''You'll get a letter in the post...''

'OK...(sarcatic voice...) Thanks for letting me know... Click burrr....

So now it's the 15th another week on & I still havent had any letter...

* So when I was last in June 26th I knew the Manager was due to retire & apart from a few texts & I think one call I havent heard from him as he retired in August.... The new manager called me once back in December to A/ tell me my sick note had run out...(it was in hand to get a new one but getting an appointment at my Doc's is a major chore...) & B/ To tell me that they were trying to get the Ocupational health Doc's appointment moved forward...(that worked out well for them... )

The OcuHealth Doc'a recomendation was that I was not fit to return to work & that the Council should sort out some hands on Phyiso for me...

Watch this space... :Beer Popcorn:
