Great chatting with you. Looking forward to see that picture

Great to meet you too :D I sat on her (the bike) yesterday and fired her up and gently revved her a bit and it gave me such an adrenaline rush. Now that the tank's on it suddenly looks like a proper bike again. Just the fairings to go on and last bits of tidying/finishing up. Should be collecting it today or tomorrow  And I have told them that I'll be taking it away to finish myself if it isn't done on Wednesday.

Oh look I've posted again...

Update (despite what I previously said - it didn't allow for an unexpected development such as this):

The bike's finished, but the LH fork leg is bent  I'd suspected this initially from looking at one of the photos I took when the bike was on the trailer but then in the flesh we agreed that it looked straight so I put it down to an optical illusion with the camera. It's not really visible but my man working on it said he felt it as soon as he rode it out of their forecourt.

He says the guy who did the welding on the frame has a spare one which he'll fit tomorrow. I did initially ask him to trailer it to my house as changing the fork is something I could easily do, but he did say then he wouldn't be able to give the bike his 'seal of approval'...he's keen to road test it and give it the thumbs up after he's done this quite significant work on it, which I conceded to.

If for some reason the fork he has is no good then I may be asking on here again :D

Won't be long, won't be long...

Orrrr! If it's just a slight bend you could have it "Rolled" and have the bend removed.

I had an ever so slight bend in one of my forks last year. motorliners in Maidstone fixed in 30mins, iirc it cost £30. I highly recommend them.

Hopefully the donor fork leg is straight, so it will not be much longer now,

Hahahaha Watty perfect response!

Thanks so so much for all of your kind encouragement during my estrangement and to those who sorted me out with bits I needed. I really really appreciate it, especially as I was a relative newcomer when this happened and wasn't really known to any of you. What a great community this is, and of course we all share the same very good taste in bikes.

I've just spent four hours on wonderful roads in North Wales and I'm absolutely smitten again, of course, with the Firestorm. Appropriately enough I had to wait for a dramatic thunderstorm to finish passing over Chester before I left. She's behaving perfectly (bar one minor thing which I'll make a Workshop post about).

I'll leave you with some photos I took
