Resignation - Help!
Resignation - Help!
Okay, so I took a new job, and now I have to give my resignation and I'm sh1tting it! Been with my mob for 10 years, my boss, who is okay, is going to flip his lid.
Better prospects, more money, new environment but still not looking forward to him giving me a going over - any tips?

I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!
Re: Resignation - Help!
Congratulations on the new job mate.
If you just come out and say you have been offered a new job. Explain about the better pay and better prospects and take it from there.

In my experience it's nearly always best to tell your boss face to face, but back it up in writing as well. I know it's not the nicest of things to do, especially when you've been there for 10yrs. I doubt your boss got to where he is today by being sentimental.Try your best to leave on good terms.
Good luck Mav

Re: Resignation - Help!
It won't be as bad as you think. I have just recently changed jobs. I worked for the same firm for 25 years! The boss was a bit shocked and did try to persuade me to stay as I finished working my resignation. Loving my new job!
Re: Resignation - Help!
Congratulations mate and good luck. Leaving on good terms is the best way as theres always the chance to go back if things don't work out.

Always leave on good terms, even if it's a crap job. It's always nice to know you have the option to go back if the new job doesn't turn out to be what was promised.

Re: Resignation - Help!
Walk out & tell him to stuff it, telling him you feel that you have wasted 10 years of your life being undervalued working for/under him/her...
Nah only joshing, as said always best to leave on good terms, just make sure you mention the better T's & C's that are the reason for leaving.

Employers usually understand when you tell them you got a better offer. They know we're working for the money so if you have a better opportunity somewhere else then they should understand.
