Wales 2017 Meet Friday 15th Sept - South East ride west

Post by bazza696 »

As the Wales trip has been arranged I thought I would fire up a thread to sort out meeting arrangements for us guys from the South East.

The route I will be taking this year will be M11 - A14 - M6 - M54 - A5 to the bunkhouse(LD6 5LY).

Sorry Mac, you will be riding up this year on your own, as Tony will be missing from this meet.

Who is from the North that would want to meet, and I will look at suitable locations on my route and plan the times I will arrive.

That's a rather boring route Bazza.
Drop down onto the M4 go to the old Severn bridge crossing and then cut up to Abergavenny, Builth, and on up. It's a lovely run and the roads are quiet.
If I was around I'd act as escort but I'm off on me Hols that week.

Wales 2017 Meet Friday 15th Sept - South East ride west

I'm in Warrington working this week and the M6 has at least 30 miles of road works to negotiate before getting to the M56 turn off. 50 mph average cameras and they are all rearward facing.
Just a thought!

I was only looking that way, cause I don't have a Mac to meet up with, this would be the shortest route by around 35 miles.

But I do agree with you, so it looks like I am taking a detour to get some winding roads in the trip.

I can't believe that I have to ride all that way on my own. Southern softies, Mac exempt because of having titanium upgrade parts fitted.

Hi,

I'm on for the Wales trip. I live in the City of London. Can meet up anywhere (I have a VTR1000, you know).

How are you meant to pronounce that?
I can manage the "David" part......
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

After further discussion, I have now decided to take the same route we normally go, but without picking up the rabble, so i will be skipping Clacket lane services.(9)

I will be stopping for fuel at Reading services(RG30 3UQ) between 11-11.30, would this be suitable place to meet David

Get to Aust services(BS35 4BH) around 1 - 1.30pm to meet up with anyone that wants to come and ride us in like last year.

it will be nearly 2hrs to the bunkhouse(LD6 5LY) around 80 miles

Reading to Aust - 85 miles - 1:30hrs
Aust to Bunkhouse 80 miles - 2:00hrs

Hmmm yes it may well be very touch & go (copyright Mr T.Mons.) as to if I'll be able to do Wales this year.

With my operation put back a month it will only be 6 weeks or so after the op...It's apparently 4 weeks min in a sling which only leaves me a couple of weeks to get the arm/ shoulder back to match fitness...

I am of course going to do my utmost to be there under me own Storm steam but we will have to wait & see...

I signed-up as "DEWG", which are my initials (there is no extra tax to pay on having 4 names). I wouldn't know how to pronounce it either---Deputy Dewg?

I did a substantial post about my recent bike history (4 bikes in 14 months, before a KTM 990 friend (a friend for nearly 30 years) told me to stop messing about, and get the VTR). I don't know where that post went. I'm sure I pressed "submit" Perhaps aliens conspired to make it not post, or perhaps I xucked-up. Anyway---I did properly introduce myself, but it has disappeared into the eather.

I need a proper ride-out on the VTR. I'm self-employed, so no-one can tell me I'm not going on 15th September, if I decide I am, which I have.

Couple of months away, and I've got an America visit before then, but I'll keep checking the site to finalise arrangements.

Incidentally, my Thai-Bride has a number of young friends who would like to meet VTR owners for some social-interaction.
(The whole of this paragraph is made-up, unfortunately).
