The conversation went like this: "Would you like to go to court?", "No thank you". "Would you like to see my video of you doing 120mph?". "Errr, no need officer". "Would you like a fixed penalty?". "Oh, yes please officer". "OK, I'll book you for 99mph, SP60, £60 fine and 3 points". "Ooooo, thank you officer" lick lick grovel grovel".

Don't think it would happen now though...
Yeah I think in a lot of ways, getting pulled up you'll stand a better chance of getting away with it. I think camera vans are horrible, there's no reasoning with them.

I got caught going 95 on the motorway in my car a few years back. I think normally he wouldn't have pulled me and it would have been fine, but it was in the pouring rain. It was that heavy, I couldn't see out of my back window and I was being followed by a police car.

When he pulled me up he seemed really pissed off that I had been doing that sort of speed in the rain. He asked why and I was honest with him and told him I was late for work.

He said that he had planned to give me a summons for dangerous driving but instead would give me a fixed penalty notice. As he pulled out his book, I said to him 'is there no chance of a warning officer?'. He looked at me like he couldn't believe I had asked so I carried on with 'I'm really not a bad driver, I am observant, I don't sit in the middle lane, I have had a clean licence for years and I have really learnt my lesson here today with or without a fine and points, but I would really appreciate it and have a lot of respect for you if you would let me off with a warning'.

He sat there and thought about it for a few seconds then put his book away and said OK. He seemed like a genuine guy, I took his warning seriously and I have always thought twice before doing the same thing since.

I'm pretty gutted that Tony has been caught at the Wales meet. Fingers crossed for you Tony.

The van I saw on the day was parked here:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.99005 ... 312!8i6656

Behind that wall where the bus stop / white van is parked on Google street.

We were travelling West on the A5 going up the hill / dual carriageway section. I'm not certain what the speed limit is there but I guess it'll be 60 as it's just a 2 lane road, not a proper dual carriageway making it 70mph.

I have really learnt my lesson here today with or without a fine and points, but I would really appreciate it and have a lot of respect for you if you would let me off with a warning'.
Yeh that would do it especially the inflating of the ego with the respect bit  Your right about the camera's. At least plod can use their discretion. Also handing out points and fixed penalty most likely saves extra paperwork and the possibility of having to attend court.

Flatty I hope your not serious as that would be bad, very bad at those sort of speeds. :eek2 A little bit more and you could make the Welsh local paper. Biker caught speeding in excess of........gets.......

A sheep to ride home on instead of his bike

Did anyone ever see this story

Tongue in cheek Carl...Not literally going down but will be punished for his misdomeanours...Do they still send miscreant's to Aus for crimes against the State...? :Banned:
