New Suffolk Police Apache helicopter

The new Suffolk Police helicopter was criticised today for being out of proportion with the county’s crime levels.

Despite crime figures being on the increase, the Suffolk force’s decision to buy an Apache helicopter is seen as wildly over the top.
Glad I'm in Essex! :D

I suppose it is to boost Police morale and instill confidence to all... because the
bobbies are too busy shipping the sick, frail, elderly injured and dying to hospitals to
effectively combat crime .. they are all ambo lancers .. hey we can scare the pants off em with
this new toy...

You definitiely cannot escape from this bad boy... what will they fire out of it .. new weapon maybe

it all happens around here

only trouble is on a Saturday evening when they are looking for crims they sometimes hover about over my house, I live quite close to the town center.

once they were looking for someone, presumably jumping over garden fences and they did the floodlight thing. impressively bright as it kept going on and off. I guess they were alternating between that and infra red? ?

I read that the last one they had cost £10,000 a day to keep ??

It's hardly OTT. it's not like it hs missiles and a cannon fitted, that would make it suitable for the job  a better chopper to have would be a linx. It would keep up with even the quickest cars and there are certainly cars out there that DO give the police copters a run for there money.

I somehow think a leg or three is being pulled here...

They wont even arm the police I doubt they will let them loose with alone of these fully armed...

Can you imagine the paperwork involved...

Makes for a Fecking funny article though

I reckon it's the start of the "easing in" process of the El Presidente regime... Next week, traffic wardens are equipped with Eurofighter Typhoons...

And there was me thinking they where a bunch of Cowboys.

Perfect chopper for keeping an eye on Traffic. You think traffic cams are advanced try that. It can pop up over the treeline and blow you away. Absolutely outrageous that plod have them. Way over the top for civilians. The only good thing about it, is that it gives ex military pilots a job. If they can independently control each of their eyes that is. That's no regular pilot.

10,000 a day seems a lot!. i do remember though that when the new Dorchester dual carriage way open some 10 years ago they used a chopper for the first speed cameras, at the time i heard it had picked up 9000 speeders the first morning. Those fines would easily have covered the cost of the chopper. It was binned after about a week as there was the rumour that spread and from then on it was 60mph by the drivers and the road blocked up. Apparantly drivers were crapping it. Now we check it first with some unlucky sod who drew the short straw, he goes first. checks for coppers then rings the rest of us. WE then hit the road and give it shite. Great bit of road and well worth it.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Don't be silly, how will they put the tickets on the screens ? Typhoons don't have windows for them to stick there arms out...

No the Parking Stompenfurahs will have tanks...

Much more effective...

Wouldn't it make sense for them to buy a model that could double up (if needed) as an air ambulance.

Seriously ? You think this is true...

''But the county crime commissioner, Tim Passless, claimed the fearsome piece of kit was necessary to deter a worrying increase in apple scrumping and illegal pigeon shooting in the countryside.''

Rob Banks Crime Editor... It's a bit of a give away really...

Have a look at the other stories in the side bar & read the comments...
