Which USB Memory Stick?

Post by sirch345 »

Can anyone recommend a reasonable quality and priced USB Memory Stick/Flash Drive?
Looking on Amazon must of them have poor or even very poor feedback from the purchasers 8O

I need a 32GB memory stick so I can back up my Windows 8 pc.

Any recommendations would be great,

Chris.

I've always used Kingston flash drives. If backing up your complete system including personal info you may want to consider using a secured (encrypted) stick.

Cheers Carl for you reply. Funnily enough I also have a Kingston flash drive, only a tiddler though at 1GB.
After reading purchasers feedback from various makes of USB flash drives on Amazon, a reasonable amount of people seem to be saying there are plenty of Chinese copies about. So out of interest I had a look at my Kingston F/D, guess what? that has made in China marked on it.

Thanks for the tip on using an encrypted stick, I had been taking that into consideration, some Sandisk's stick's comes with that software already installed.

Is there anything they don't copy  I had to go and check mine. Looks like I have a genuine one, no made n china or any other markings apart from the Kingston. I bought a 16gb one as they seemed best value at the time. Didn't get it of the bay of evil though. Got it from a genuine supplier online. Can't remember who now, but it was one of the firms that specialises in selling flash drives and consumables.

Cheers for that info Carl, perhaps I'd better have a look around and avoid ebay for this item.

Mine has the word "China" marked on the side of the stick.

This one should do the trick? Got an Integral 64gb pastel off eBay for £18, see if I can find the seller's Id

*edit* seller's id is mymemory-uk (111336) think they are posting from Jersey so get cheaper deals on the tax, I had no problems with my drive after a few failed Chinese copies had been through my hands..........ran a h2testw on it immediately after I received it to check it was genuine

Cheers Steve for that info, unfortunately I had just ordered a Kingston about 30mins before I saw your reply. However I now know what to get if I have any trouble with my latest buy, and I have found that seller on ebay :D

Thanks for the tip also on that h2testw check, I'd not come across that before
